I tried to post earlier,but it never came up so I'm trying again. My tv shuts off after less than a minute with the Stand by, Lamp, and timer lights blinking. No noises, clicking ,humming or otherwise are coming from the tv. The lamp is almost 3 years old and has never been changed. Is the lamp my only problem here?

That sound like a typical case of a lamp that has expired. Did you get any kind of distortion with the picture? If not then the lamp is still the main suspect.
I would recommend you replace your lamp before you try anything else, since there are no other symptoms of a defective part other than the lamp.
I would strongly recommend that before you replace the lamp you clean the inside of your TV free of dust & mold. Also don’t forget to close the lamp door after installing the lamp & remember to reset the lamp timer.
